Cavanna set up MIT in late 2000, after having carefully observed latent
market needs and realized that greater interaction was needed between wrapping
materials and sealing problems, i.e. between film producers and wrapping machine
makers.
With this in mind, Cavanna created several partnerships, in particular with
Sacchital in Pregnana Milanese to share experiences and know-how.
Cavanna has always been keen on experimentation and innovation, and has an
extremely efficient Test Laboratory. Here, thanks to state-of-the-art equipment,
the sealability and machineability of wrapping materials can be tested at
various speeds.
MEASUREMENT INSTRUMENTS
(for example, the vacuum system and pressure system) are used to check sealing
tightness levels obtained on the machines.

All tests are accompanied by a Test Sheet containing all the features of the
material (structural analysis, coefficient of friction, etc) and its performance
(machineability, seal tightness in relation to speed, etc).

ADVANCED RESEARCH
The Team continuously studies new applications for traditional materials
as well as for innovative and alternative materials.
In particular, the Team takes part in studies on the performance of organic
(especially biodegradable) materials, which present very special and complex
problems regarding their use.
