of Area Managers, Service Department and Instruction Book Department. Mr Ivano
Baraldo, the Sales Manager, co-ordinates the Regional Sales Managers and the
sales network. On the American market Cavanna presence is important:
for over 25 years and with more than 450 installations completed in FOOD (bakery,
confectionery and frozen foods) and NON FOOD areas (pharmaceuticals & cosmetics).
Cavanna USA offers a great variety of technical solutions: from single pack,
multi pack to special applications to fit specific Customer needs. Great care

Cavanna, the American way of flowrapping
"Wherever is flowpack Cavanna is there”: our American way of packaging the most various types of products where flowrapping is needed.
A fully automatic line to wrap trays of cookies has been installed in the Chicago area. The line includes a diverting system sharing the flow of trays into two lanes and passing through LIFO buffers, that, in case of wrapper stoppage, are able to store the trays. Each ZERO5 wrapper, complete with BRL phasing system, has a wrapping capacity variable from 66 to 120 ppm. in nominal speed. In case of wrapper stoppage, the buffer stores the trays and whenever the wrapping line restarts, it runs at an extra speed of plus 20% in order to empty the buffer.
Directly connected to the cutting machine of the customer, the ZERO5NKZ machines of this line wrap a wide range of sliced loaves with different dimensions and shapes. Peculiarity of these machines is the high flexibility. A system of chains, featuring adjustable pitch between pushers and adjustable chain length, allows a fast change over time. The machines are complete with fast interchangeable chains between the forming box and the sealing jaws, to complete the full flexibility of the line.
Two high speed wrappers (up to 600 products per minute) complete with row distributors and service buffers have been installed for wrapping fruit bars. This line includes special service buffers installed onto each leg to manage the micro stoppages of the line. In case of long time breakdown a second buffer with higher capacity takes care to store and then recycle the rows. The infeed of the wrappers is made by electronic belts that accumulate, turn the products lengthwise and phase them into the infeed chain of the high speed SERVO wrappers.
A stainless steel ZERO3 wrapper with infeed especially designed to wrap sponges, a simple product that still requires a lot of attention and care, because wet and corrosive. The Cavanna know-how in this specific field makes the packaging of sponges easy and without risks.
A full cooperation with a primary Company of the pharma industry has allowed Cavanna to install some machines especially designed to wrap blisters of contraceptive pills. The complete line includes blister feeders, coupon dispensers, hygroscopic bags, bar code reader and vision system. Besides Cavanna is able to offer a team of engineers that can produce a full documentation to allow a multilevel validation. The ZERO5 wrapper is managed by an Allen-Bradley electronic control.
This line includes 4 legs designed to wrap chocolate bars. Directly connected to the cooling tunnel, the line includes a rows distribution system type SDR, complete with storage belt and recycling station, 4 automatic feeding systems with electronic belts driven by brushless motors and 4 full program ZERO5 wrappers. Each wrapper runs at the speed of 340 bars/minute in nominal speed.
A complete line of 6 wrappers directly connected to the creaming machines is the last evolution of a long cooperation with a primary Company in North Carolina, where over 20 years Cavanna has supplied several primary wrappers and some multipack overwrappers to flowrap creamed peanut butter crackers. The primary ZERO5 machines wrap sandwiches "2 long, 2 high" and "3 long, 2 high" at 350 packs/minute each. The primary packs are then overwrapped 2 high by 3, 4 and 5 long.
Further applications in the pharma industry have been made by Cavanna in the USA. In this case a special care has been put in the quality of the sealing, being the requirement of tightness very strict with practically “zero” tolerance. Those wrapping machines have required long validation tests in order to guarantee the sealing specifications. The internal Cavanna lab has put at customer’s disposal all his technology and know-how by testing the wrapping materials very carefully.
The machines are integrated in a complete line including buffering system, robotic feeder and boxing machine.
